Lake Victoria -> Kilgoris & Leopard fights

Day seven Our trip back to Kiserian began at a small hotel right next to Lake Victoria. I think the hotel was called SupaNova, lol I remember giggling because it was a play on words:

One of the best hotels in Kenya is called Sarova hotels, I think they were simply trying to make it sound the same. Anywho, the roads to this hotel were an adventure in itself.

There were literally missing sections of the road... And here we are in a mini van bus type of car with minimal clearing height for the under carriage trying our hardest to keep up with my dads massive 4 wheel drive Prado... It was a sight to see!

When we finally got to our rooms we realized most of the beds hadn't been made this lead to about an hour and a half of waiting for linens to be brought to all 10 rooms...

I think there was a total of 20 of us and I'm pretty sure the hotel wasn't expecting that many people. Especially since the location is literally 2 hours from civilization.

Eventually beds were made and sleep never felt so good!

The following morning we walked down to lake Victoria and played in the water and then took a tour of the pier.

Finally we began our journey back to Kilgoris to see my mothers older sister.

Everyone just calls her "Mama" because she really takes care of everyone.

Late in the night I woke up to the sound of dogs barking and fighting. It lasted maybe 5-7 minutes and then all I could hear was this quiet almost nonexistent whimpering. Then complete silence.

Wellll! As I learned the following day, apparently in Kilgoris, late at night, the Leopards come to eat the guard dogs.

The noise was the dogs fighting off the leopards. My other Aunt Jane had been standing outside and saw one of the leopards climb into the fenced yard and begin hunting for the dogs. At the time even she didn't know what the animal was but she also learned the following morning.
