"I could spend my life crying over all of the things that I haven't done. Truly I could do that... But my purpose prevents me from wallowing in self pity. It prevents me from looking at the world as if my heart isn't full of adventure, family, friendship and love.
My purpose prevents me from thinking that there are experiences that I cannot have.
My purpose wakes me up and let's me know that there will always be more, there will always be a door waiting for me to open it. "
I finally got the chance to visit "Fort Jesus" in Mombassa! We spent the day learning about the East African slave trade as well as the commodity trade that was set up on the coast with countries such as Portugal and India.
It was such a beautiful place but you could feel the pain in the stones and the struggles of so many people.
The tour guide mentioned that one of the reasons the Maasai and many Kenyans never became slaves is the sheer terror they instilled in the slave owners.
There are stories of Maasai warriors who not only stood up for individuals rights but also assisted in preventing further discrimination and abductions of Kenyans.
Overall this trip has been full of life, culture and love lessons. I'm so glad I got the chance to really dive into what makes me a Kenyan Maasai girl and I'm so excited to learn more!
So I leave you with this....
If you feel the world pulling you, really begging you to drop everything and run...just go.
